A few weeks ago we were scheduled to go and view the venues in the Yarra Valley, however I had been really really sick with the flu and didn’t think that I would be able to make the appointments
Come Sunday morning, we decided to cancel so we could stay in bed and rest… but the more I layed in bed the more I thought about seeing my dream venue Inglewood Estate and the fact that there was no way I was missing their open day! So cue Jessie, a BIG box of tissues, a bag of pain killers, mik and his i-phone GPS and we were on our way!!
Fast forward to an hour later and it was the BIGGEST disappointment ever!
I always thought that when you see the right venue you would just know.. and I was beginning to give up hope. We went on to see Roombas @ Wooling Hill, Immerse, Evelyn County, The Vines @ Helens Hill and Killara Estate and nothing felt right.
Well, that was until we got to De Bortoli. As soon as we drove up the drive way, Mik and I just looked at eachother and thought yes… this is the one! The views were breathtaking, the vines were amazing and the atmosphere was just right… However, we had cancelled our appointment to go through it that morning, so we were only able to view the outside, but to us, that was enough… we were pretty much decided and made an appointment to go through the restaurant for another time..
That time was this weekend and we were SO excited and decided to take my little sister Dana down to see it with us! But as soon as we walked into the resteraunt once again we were HUGELY disappointed. Inside was small, squashy and the room was in a huge ‘L’ shape meaning that half of the guests wouldn’t be able to see each other all night… So De Bortoli is now off the list L
On the way back home we decided to visit Elmswood Estate and boy am I glad we did… it is beautiful! A little on the small side, but by far the best venue we have seen. But I’m not getting my hopes up too high, incase it turns out to be another ‘de bortoli’..
Here are some pics that we took at De Bortoli and Elmswood Estate:
